June 30th, 2022: Signed into Law - Tax Refunds for 23 Million California Taxpayers

On June 30th, 2022 Newsom signed into law key elements of the new $307.9 billion state budget, which include a spending plan focused on 2022 tax refunds for 23 million + taxpayers to soften the sting of high fuel prices and the cost of living.

*** Note CA AGI figures below are for the 2020 tax year.

MFJ households with a CA AGI between $250,001 - $500,000 qualify for a $ 600 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 400 without a dependent.

MFJ households with a CA AGI between $150,001 - $250,000 qualify for a $750 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 500 without a dependent.

MFJ households with a CA AGI up to $150,000 qualify for a $ 1,050 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 700 without a dependent.

Head-of-household filers with a CA AGI between $250,001 - $500,000 qualify for a $ 400 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 200 without a dependent.

Head-of-household filers with a CA AGI between $150,001 - $250,000 qualify for a $ 500 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 250 without a dependent.

Head-of-household filers with a CA AGI up to $150,000 qualify for a $ 700 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 350 without a dependent.

Single filers with a CA AGI between $ 125,001 - $250,000 qualify for a $ 400 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 200 without a dependent.

Single filers with a CA AGI between $ 75,001 and $125,000 qualify for a $ 500 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 250 without a dependent.

Single filers with a CA AGI up to $ 75,000 qualify for a $ 700 refund if they have a dependent, and $ 350 refund without a dependent.

California taxpayers should receive their refunds by direct deposit or debit card late October, 2022 - January, 2023.
